TESTIMONIALS

CENTRAL Queensland Blue Care and Yeppoon Family Practice on the Capricorn Coast have formed a partnership to help our local seniors stay in their homes longer.

Yeppoon Family Practice  Care Plan Nurse Helen Sutcliffe said Blue Care contacted the practice to discuss ways of making life a little easier for seniors still living in their own homes.

“Often it is the small things that make the world of difference. As we get older it can become difficult to remember everything that is going on such as items they have run out of and need to purchase in the shopping, appointments and messages,” Ms Sutcliffe said.

“Blue Care came up with the idea of utilising a ‘medical whiteboard’ which is a re-useable board that is magnetised so it can sit on their fridge.

“Clients can write down notes such as shopping lists, appointments, social events and, home care assistance can relay messages to others such as family members and other service providers.

“Blue Care donated 1000 of the medical whiteboards to Yeppoon Family Practice to be distributed to our senior clients who receive in-home assistance.”

Ms Sutcliffe said the initiative is another step in allowing people to retain some independence in their own homes.

Blue Care’s Joan Purdie said the service is thrilled to be able to work in conjunction with others in a bid to allow people to retain their dignity, improve communication and help in assisting people to stay in their own homes longer.

The Medical White Boards initiative has been operational for the past 9 years and just one year ago launched the My Aged Care/NDIS Medical White Boards in response to major changes in the health care industry.

Medical White Boards Business Manager said changes were required in line with health care changes to further meet the needs of patients, medical centres and client service providers.

“ Australian Healthcall Group has been a client of Medical Whiteboards for the last 7 years.

The completed whiteboards are produced by deadline to a very high quality and represent a good investment for our business.

We have been particularly impressed with the data base initiative that has been commenced as this allows us to develop further customer relationships and represents a further potential return on our investment."

"Patients love them. They go on the fridge and are used daily for appointments and list. We have our name on the fridge for contact whiteboards stay forever. They are a useful advertising tool. They are better than just our name on a fridge magnet because they are useful and used.

Quote from a Medical Centre Practice Manager

“ Can we please order the maximum amount of whiteboards, they are so popular with our patients they are always asking about them''.
